Symbiotics, has partnered with ASA Microfinance Uganda Ltd (ASA Uganda) a for profit operating as a microfinance company and regulated by the Uganda Microfinance Regulatory Authority (UMRA).

Investment rationale
ASA Uganda is a for-profit non-deposit taking microfinance institution, providing small, socially responsible loans for income-generating purposes to low-income, predominantly female entrepreneurs. They provide these loans using the ASA Model of microfinance.

Impact rationale
Provide low-income female business owners small loans to start or grow businesses. With 100% of clients being women, ASA Uganda primarily enhances women’s access to finance.

Sustainable Development Goals
End all forms of discrimination against all women and girls everywhere. It seeks to ensure that women and girls enjoy equal rights and opportunities in all spheres of life. This target emphasizes the elimination of legal, social, and cultural discrimination that limits women’s access to education, employment, political participation, healthcare, and other fundamental rights.
