Invethos and Symbiotics partner up through enhanced Emerging Impact Bond Fund

November 30, 2020

Invethos, a sustainable wealth manager, and Symbiotics, the leading market access platform for impact investing, have established a partnership through the enhanced Emerging Impact Bond Fund (EIBF).

Since Symbiotics launched the fund in 2015, EIBF has built a five-year track record investing predominantly in private debt of financial intermediaries in emerging and frontier markets. Thanks to the new partnership with Invethos, who will serve as an investment advisor to Symbiotics, EIBF can now invest up to 15% in impact-related private debt in developed markets. As of 30 September 2020, the fund has USD 35 million in total assets.

The Emerging Impact Bond Fund targets institutional and private investors such as pensions funds and family offices that wish to obtain an attractive financial and social return. It offers weekly subscriptions and redemptions and is structured as a Luxembourg-domiciled SICAV part II. The fund offers share classes in USD as well as CHF, specifically aimed at the Swiss market. EIBF is the result of the merger of Invethos’ Social Impact Fund, formerly domiciled in Liechtenstein and Symbiotics’ Emerging Impact Bond Fund. The new fund offers an innovative and efficient access to impact investing through private debt.

Invethos Co-Founder and Partner Lukas Stücklin stated: “The Fund’s unique ability to invest in emerging markets, and at the same time, to address social challenges in the Global North provides a unique investment opportunity for investors who would like to see the application of impact investing principles addressing issues across the globe as well as in their own communities.

The revamped Emerging Impact Bond Fund combines the expertise of two long-standing players in the impact investing market. Symbiotics has more than 15 years of experience in impact debt in emerging and frontier markets, while Invethos brings intimate knowledge of the impact investing landscape in developed markets. This creates a unique set-up to deliver on our investment promise to investors”, said Théodore Economou, Head of Asset Management at Symbiotics.
